  1. What types of Apprenticeships are there?
    • Didac offer Apprenticeships at two levels.
      • 'Apprenticeships (Level 2)' equivalent to GCSE level.
      • 'Advanced Apprenticeships (Level 3)' equivalent to A-levels.
  2. How is learning done through an Apprenticeship?
    • An Apprenticeship is essentially a set of qualifications called a 'framework' developed by Sector Skills Councils. Most Apprenticeship frameworks follow a standard format that comprises:
      • A National Vocational Qualification (Level 2 for Apprenticeships, Level 3 for Advanced Apprenticeships).
      • Key Transferable Skills - Key Skills.
      • A Technical Certificate.
    • Didac will provide the knowledge and develops skills while your employer provides practical experience to put those skills to the test.  All training and assessment will be delivered within your place of employment.
  3. How do I find out about Apprenticeship opportunities?
    • The National Apprenticeship Service runs Apprenticeships vacancies. This is an online system whereby employers and learning providers can advertise and manage vacancies, and potential apprentices can search, apply and then manage their applications for Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeships opportunities anywhere in England.
    • The system is free and available on the Apprenticeships website at: www.apprenticeships.org.uk
  4. How much will I get paid as an Apprentice?
    • Employers are required to pay a minimum of £95.00 per week, although most employers often pay more.
  5. Will I be treated as any other employee?
    • Yes. Your employer will treat you as any other employee, including holding a contract of employment.
  6. What are the advantages of an Apprenticeship?
    • Getting qualified while on the job can also mean:
      • you work better, safely and more effectively
      • you get better pay
      • you get to experience new and different challenges
      • your existing skills and knowledge are recognised and can help you gain a qualification faster
      • you learn at your own pace and get support when you need it
      • better job security
      • you gain skills and knowledge

Funding

  1. What funding is available for Apprenticeships?
    • For learners 16-18, there is no cost
    • For learners 19 and over, this is upon negotiation as funding is at a reduced rate
