Government continues to support training in the furniture sector

As a result of Didac’s accredited status with The National Skills Academy, it has secured funding from the Skills Funding Agency via the Proskills Joint Investment Programme to subsidise delivery of NVQ Level 3 qualifications to learners in the furniture industry. This will enable England-based employers to access up to 50% funded support.

Eligible training programmes cover most aspects of furniture production and woodworking, including design, making, upholstery and restoration, so training opportunities are available to all sectors of the furniture and furnishings industry including fitted furniture and kitchen installation.

A Diploma in Supervision in Furniture, Furnishings, and Interiors Industry is also an eligible qualification.  Martin James of Didac commented: “The supervisory qualification can have a dramatic impact on a company’s performance because supervisors have responsibility for other employees. By increasing supervisory skills can raise the performance of a whole department in a company.

Fully supported by Didac’s training and assessment team, work-based learners study for an NVQ Diploma award from City & Guilds over a 6 to 12 month period. The latest training methods are used including e-portfolios to ensure the learning experience is both efficient and fulfilling.

The teaching processes used by Didac are rated highly by employers and learners alike because learning programmes are customised, so training is directly relevant to each learner’s job role in their place of employment.
